Wednesday 4th August – bike **** – Felixstowe circuit including lunch
at Levington Marina – sunny and warm.
Another sunny and warm day here on the East Coast at Felixstowe, the usual
morning in the gardening and exercises before I pack lunch and we head over
to Levington Marina to hopefully give James who works there a lovely little
top Mag knitted for Indie:) Actually left home early at just past 11 biking
past Felixstowe cemetery where the old Deben school playing field has
turned into a wild flower field, as the school is now being demolished:(
Carrying on past the massive Uniserve warehouse nearing completion, as the
footpath/bike route passes in front of the main entrance which will be very
busy with lorries soon and will be an accident blackspot so were pleased to
see a new road layout with a roundabout and zebra crossing:) Though the
avenue of trees with next to no one about but no deer either as we reach
the River Orwell at Loompit lake which is sadly well covered in grotty
weed! Around to Levington Marina where we bump into Jamie taking a yacht
out of the water and he is well pleased with the little jumper:) Then
around to the seat at the windsurf launch by the marina entrance for lunch
with views down the River Orwell to Felixstowe docks where the now near
empty Ever Given is berthed! Nice and warm as we enjoy our yummy roll with
several waders flying past as the tide drops exposing the mud! Taking the
inland route home, over the huge Trimley footbridge to Candlet Lane,
through the woods at The Grove. Then the town centre to the seafront and
home, another nice quiet cycle covering 14 miles being out for 3 hours.
